Milestone and Cias ensure high-security of Reykjavik Holmsheidi Prison
The Milestone Systems VMS solution in combination with CIAS fence and microwave detection systems have been selected to ensure extreme security levels in the high-security women’s Holmsheidi Prison in Reykjavik, Iceland. The advanced high-security system has been realized thanks to the partnership between Milestone Systems and the local security consulting company Security Center, in collaboration with Verkís, the consulting engineering company responsible for the project’s Building management system and for the design of all electrical, lighting and security systems.
Completed in 2015, the Holmsheidi Prison is a high-security women’s prison located in the outskirts of Reykjavik. The building, owned by the government of Iceland, with its 56 cells takes up to 3.700 sqm, while the building premises are about 37.410 sqm.
The Milestone XProtect Expert VMS platform enables the prison staff to proactively respond to potential incidents and alarm events, ensuring high availability and uninterrupted video recording capabilities.
The integrated CIAS fence and microwave detection systems have been chosen and provided by the local security services company Security Center. The integration was made possible through CIAS’ IB-System IP technology, a data collection system that works as an integration server, able to manage up to 1.280 different sensors.
The Milestone’s open platform technology lastly allows future unlimited extendability of the surveillance system, by gathering new advanced security services and products to provide the high-security prison state-of-the-art security and alarm systems.
